Flying News
Gary Steele and Barry Baxter went to Manilla, NSW, in February, for three weeks flying.  However, the weather gods only smiled on them for six days.  Gary did, however, manage to do a 100km flight.

Andy Maloney, Colin Iles and Kris Ericksen also headed off to Manilla in late February also for three weeks. The first week Andy and Kris took part in Craig Collins' XC Clinic and the second week they participated in the Australian Open, then in the final week they all participated in the NZ Open.  Heather Cook, a former WHGPC hang glider member, who moved to Australia a couple of years ago, has taken up paragliding and also took part in the competition.  Photos will eventually appear on this web site....

Laurie Ross set a new site record for Heights Road of 29 km on 22 February on his second ever flight on his new wing!  Congratulations! - & certainly a nominee for the Ice Eagle award!  He flew over Ricky Windus who had just landed setting the site record at 25km!  That must deserve a prize for the shortest lived site record.....

Laurie Ross must also be in the running for a Dunny Seat Award - having put his new wing into trees twice within four days - once at Heights Road and then again at Dalefield.....

Barry Baxter flew 22.9km from Dalefield on Tuesday 25 March down to Cross Creek.

Mark Bailey has returned from Zimbabwe and is currently living in Napier.
